Work in Isolation

Like most artists we are used to working in our own space and heads and so life is continuing much as before in this regard. However, again like most, there is the addition of shopping for others, home-schooling and totally missing actual interaction with friends and colleagues.

Warm Glass continues to stock most items and is delivering the raw materials to keep me busy. This is good news - as we head into the summer I usually ramp up the kiln to near daily usage in order to create stock for the busy season of October-December. It would be an additional blow to not be able to do this as the kiln limits capacity and so I would not be able to create enough stock for that period.

Without the small shops open and with no Arts markets, my sales have fallen and so like all artists I am trying to organise my online presence more. This does not come naturally to me so I am having to man up!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last few weeks - it really matters right now.

You may have noticed that I have gone a bit animal mad in the last couple of weeks - here are some designs drying before going in for a second firing.

With so much change around us, it is important, I think, to take this time to think about changes we would like to make to our values and actions. This can include what you buy and where you buy it from.

When you buy from an individual artist, you are:

- undoubtedly getting value for your money, as there is more time and love in your piece than can be expressed in money.

- getting your own unique item. My ethos is to create a unique piece each time so that you can be sure you are getting your very own.

- getting a piece which has been thought about. I also extend my thinking to the sustainability and waste it creates as an item and in it's packaging.

These cards are both a gift and a card in one.

Each has a brooch/badge attached, handmade from fused glass, which can be detached and used.

Some of the designs use copper and others have the design applied and then a second trip in the kiln. So all have been thought about and had time taken on them.

I can send items, and have been doing so, directly to recipients, gift-wrapped for free - please message me through social media or email if I can do that for you.

I am donating £2 from the sale of every rainbow piece to the NHS.

Thank you for your support but most of all, stay well and safe. x
